Adrigole Diving Trip 11th - 13th April

A great few days, and nights, was had by all in the Sub Aqua Club. The final number travelling was 16, including 2 instructors from Cork Sub Aqua Club. We were lucky to get a dive in on Wednesday afternoon at Zetland Pier, which helped the trainees get those all important log-books signed up by completing a snorkel-the rest had the chance to spot some marine life below surface. Thursday was to be a busy day with 3 dives planned in two different dive sites. Again, the first was used to get the trainees' snorkels finished with. After lunch, everyone got another dive in at Zetland before we moved to 'Dave's Pier' for our evening dive seeing plenty of Crab, fish and Sea Urchins. Friday morning, the heads weren't looking to great but we managed to get a last and final dive incorporating the Exam for the trainees again at Zetland, before we headed on the road home. A special thanks to Dave O'Riordan and Renes Gonzalez from Cork Sub Aqua Club for their support and to Patrick & Eileen of Hungry Hill Lodge for the accomodation and bottle fills. Allihies in West Cork is next on the agenda, hopefully another few days diving. Details to follow.

Monday 27th November

This coming Monday, trainees will be taking the written exam on Snorkelling in Classroom 0.51. Try to be there at 6.30 sharp so as we can start it straight away. This will be followed by the practical test in the pool at approx. 7pm so bring your gear. It's also advisable at this stage that members begin purchasing their own gear, well the basics atleast, just to start us on the road. Renting of gear by the club will be ceaseing soon enough, and we will be hoping to begin the open water snorkels too-this is in the sea, so swimming togs won't be sufficient, at this time of year anyway! See ye all Monday night, when Gary and Graham will have some news from the CFT AGM in Athlone.

Out of air, gotta go...

Munster Dive & Canoe

Attention New Members:

We are hoping that new members will be able to pick up their own gear for training purposes; by new gear we mean, Wetsuit, Fins, Snorkel, Mask, Booties. Having these will enable more training techniques to be carried out on Monday nights rather than having people waiting on the basic gear, thus getting us out to the open sea quicker!! So if possible, try pick up the bits and pieces over time, MUNSTER DIVE & CANOE, 30 ST. FINBARRS ROAD, CORK (021 4312510), will offer you a good package, so pop up there and ask for Mark, tell him you're with NMCI Sub Aqua Club, if a group of ye go up together, all the better. See ye all Monday night (6.30 - 8.30pm ((Bus leaving CIT 5.50pm)) )
